How to Choose Your Mattress?

Over the course of our lives, we sleep on average for 25 years. That’s why choosing your Tréca mattress carefully is essential. The comfort (initial feel) and firmness of your luxury mattress are the two key elements to consider when making your choice.

Testing Your Bedding

For optimal comfort, it is essential to test your bedding before purchasing, ideally with the bed base (box spring) you intend to buy, or on one with equivalent technology (slats, springs…) if you plan to keep it.

The choice of bed base will have a considerable impact on the comfort and durability of your luxury mattress over time

What Is Good Bedding?

A good luxury mattress should promote body relaxation and help prevent back pain: when lying down, the body releases tension; the muscles and spine relax.
It should be adapted to body shape: both supple and firm, the mattress must support every part of the body. Body weight should be distributed evenly.
It must be firm, but not too firm… because if the mattress is too hard, the proper alignment of the spine is not guaranteed.

In reality, defining “good bedding” is very subjective. What matters is that your body is well supported, and that you feel comfortable as you drift into the world of dreams.

All these tips should help you decide which mattress to choose, especially if you suffer from back pain.

Understanding Sleep

Restorative sleep is a true public health issue. It is essential to optimize the time dedicated to it. If sleep cycles are not respected, productivity, mood, and physical health can all be affected. This is why it’s important to understand the phases of sleep in order to enjoy restorative nights on your Tréca bedding.

Contrary to popular belief, sleep is an active and complex phenomenon. It can be described in the following stages: wakefulness, slow-wave sleep, falling asleep, light slow-wave sleep, deep slow-wave sleep, and REM (paradoxical) sleep. In general, one night consists of 4 to 6 sleep cycles, each lasting about 90 minutes.

– Falling asleep: 5–10 minutes

– Light slow-wave sleep: 10–15 minutes

– Deep sleep: 30 minutes

– Very deep sleep: 30 minutes

– REM sleep: 10–15 minutes

Each person has their own rhythm and individual sleep needs, because every sleeper and every night of sleep is unique.
